Bible-Man: The Legend Continues

This past week in Bible II we finished up the book of Romans and started Ephesians. For this week the question was asked “What was the most applicable exhortation Paul gives in Romans 12:1-15:7 towards the people in your life?” In my opinion the most applicable exhortation would be the first one he gives is Romans 12: 1-2, “A Living Sacrifice”. 

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

I think this one is the one we should work on the most because we are supposed to stand out (in a good way) as followers of Christ and as Paul says “Do not conform to the pattern of this world…” So as followers of Christ we should make sure not to fall into the temptations of the world or to accept things that the world calls normal. So my challenge to people would to stay away from the normal and to stay closer to the way of Jesus Christ. Well thanks for reading my blog! Leave a comment or a question if you’

The Jesus Club

This week in Bible 2 we read the first 10 chapters of Romans where Paul gives his expression of the gospel message. Paul’s basic expression is that anyone who believes in Christ is forgiven and there will be no condemnation to those believers. But that’s just the simple gospel message, and it’s just as simple as that to us. But to non-believers just the simple message is complicated! So the question was asked “What is the hardest thing to explain to non-believers?” I think a lot of it is hard to explain, but probably the hardest thing to explain would be where God came from. Because God came from nowhere. He is the beginning and the end, nothing came before him. But for everyone something came from something! Just look at evolution! In evolution everything came from something, even if it doesn't make since! The second question we were asked was “What would make the most since to a non-believer?” The thing that would make the most since would be that Jesus existed. That would be the easiest because it’s pretty obvious that Jesus existed, people can’t really argue with that. But that’s just my opinion, so let me know what your guys think! 

The Perks of Being a Paul Flower

So this week in Bible 2 we read 1 Corinthians and had lots of discussions and debates over Paul’s words on marriage, divorce, sex, and being single; which he mainly talks about in Chapter 6 and 7. Paul said multiple things in these chapters regarding these subjection some things he mentioned was from God himself (such as a wife must not separate from her husband), he also mentioned his own opinion (such as you should never get married).

So the questioned has been asked to me if I have gained any insights from Paul’s words. I learned that Paul seemed to think it was better to stay single and never get married so you can be closer to God.  I don’t fully agree with Paul  because not everyone is going to get closer to God because they didn’t get married, well unless they became a Monk.

The second question we were asked was if this had an application in America today? I think that as of right now, it has no application, but I think it should. I think that lots of people should take Paul’s advice on how to stay together, not cheat, and not getting in divorces for the wrong reasons. Will you take Paul’s advice?
